Theban Harbours and Waterscapes Survey

Theban Harbours and Waterscapes Survey (THaWS) Blog Archive

Since 2011 I have been involved in the Theban Harbours and Waterscapes Survey, an Egypt Exploration Society project directed by Dr Angus Graham. The project is investigating the changing course and form of the river Nile and the associated ritual and settlement archaeology in the Thebes area, on the West Bank in the vicinity of Birkit Habu and the temple complexes of the area, and at Karnak and Birkit Luxor on the East Bank. The survey is utilising techniques of topographic and geophysical survey, together with borehole survey and sedimentology to look at the harbours and waterscapes of the zone.
